“They’re Just Jealous Of You, Don’t Worry”- Sanju Samson’s Father Shares How Rahul Dravid Saved His Career

Indian cricketer Sanju Samson is steadily rising in white-ball cricket, especially in T20Is. However, his journey hasn’t been easy. Samson’s father revealed how the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) attempted to “ruin” his career and how Rahul Dravid stepped in to save it.

Speaking on Sports Today (via Hindustan Times), Samson’s father credited former cricketer and coach Rahul Dravid for his son’s success and growth in cricket.

“I will tell you one incident about Rahul Dravid. When KCA had tried to disregard Sanju and destroy his career, Dravid ji had interfered in the matter. Wherever Sanju is at today, he owes it to Rahul Dravid. I have not forgotten anyone who has given us warmth and generosity,” he said.

He shared that Dravid, aware of Samson’s potential from their time at Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2013, called to help him.

“After keeping down the phone, he told me ‘it was Rahul sir’. He said ‘Sanju, I understand all that is happening with you. They are all jealous of you. Tu chinta mat kar (Don’t worry). Don’t get your morale down. I have taken care of it. You keep training and get ready for NCA’. He operated at a level higher than the KCA and took Sanju under his wings,” he recalled.

Sanju Samson’s Father Breaks Silence on Feud with KCA

The feud between Sanju Samson and the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) surfaced when he was excluded from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad, which also cost him a spot in India’s 2025 Champions Trophy lineup. Samson’s father accused the KCA of attempting to tarnish his son’s reputation and derail his career.

Despite this, Samson remains a key member of India’s T20I team. He has been in exceptional form recently, scoring three centuries in his last six T20I matches. He is also part of the squad for the ongoing five-match T20I series against England at home.
