Mashrafe Mortaza is being praised for his efforts in grooming the young Bangladesh side in the limited overs formats. After taking his retirement in the shortest format of the game, his eyes are on leading his team successfully in the 2019 World Cup. But, there”s another thing that has really caught his attention.

Reports suggest that the 35-year old is all set to contest in the general elections which are about to take place on December 30th. Prime Minister  Sheikh Haseena has given a nod for his inclusion in the party which can really attract a lot of cricket enthusiasts to vote for him. The board has also given a clearance and said that it is not going to indulge in the decision.

Mortaza represented the side in 289 games across all formats. His capabilities with bat and ball fetched them fruitful results. Bangladesh side has been decimating opponents at their backyard and his captaincy has been one of the primary reasons behind it.

Cricketers making their political entry has become a trend now. Recently, Imran Khan won the general elections and he is now the Prime minister of Pakistan. Though there were several reports that Gambhir is being considered by the ruling party BJP for upcoming elections in India, this report from Bangladesh is really a shocker for the entire cricketing fraternity.
