This Cricketer Said He deserves to be dropped from the Test squad

Talking about his poor performances in the longest format of the game, South Africa’s star player JP Duminy admits that he deserved to be dropped from the test team. Notably, Duminy was axed from the squad midway of the England series and he admitted his test career was over much before he took the decision of quitting himself.

Recollecting his last innings against England in September, the all-rounder while talking to the media said, “Walking off after Lord’s I felt a change needed to happen. I rightly deserved to be dropped. There were guys putting up their hands for places and I felt I needed a different path.”

Duminy wants to keep his prolonged dream of winning a world cup alive. The 33-year-old cricketer admitted that though it will be tough to beat the highest level of fitness, he will keep no stones unturned to be in his top form and feature for South Africa in the 2019 World Cup scheduled to take place in England.

“Every player wants to win the World Cup but we still have a long way to go. To be there, I have to keep putting in good performances. It’s good to have a long-term goal but it’s also important that we stay focused on the present and what’s in front of us,” the cricketer further added.

Duminy, who was supposed to lead the Cape Town Knight Riders in T20 Global League 2017 seemed disappointed as the tournament was postponed until next year by Cricket South Africa (CSA) citing logistical reasons.

“It is disappointing, not just from a South African point of view but also from a global point of view. I think the manner in which it has been postponed is the most disappointing,” Duminy said on the postponement of the South African T20 league. I’m hoping it’s not the end. I’m hoping it can recover and we can come to a consensus about the way forward,” Duminy signed off.
