“This MayBe His Last World Cup” – Aakash Chopra Predicts The Future Of Star India Player

Aakash Chopra, the former Indian opener, believes that the 2023 World Cup might mark Virat Kohli‘s final appearance in the tournament. Kohli is well-known for maintaining exceptional fitness standards.

Aakash Chopra suggests that considering the extensive cricket calendar and the next ODI World Cup scheduled for 2027, it could be challenging for the star batsman.

When questioned about which players from the current World Cup squad he thinks will continue to represent India in the next major event in South Africa in 2027, the former cricketer shared his views.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel following India’s World Cup squad announcement, Aakash Chopra shared his thoughts on the selection:

“I think Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, and maybe Jasprit Bumrah. That’s all I can think of (2027 World Cup).”

“Never say never with Virat Kohli, especially given his fitness standards. However, it may be a bit too far and this may be his last ODI World Cup.”

Aakash Chopra’s thoughts on Shikhar Dhawan’s omission

Aakash Chopra thinks that Shikhar Dhawan’s absence from India’s World Cup squad is due to the outstanding double centuries by Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, rather than a decision to drop Dhawan. He considers Dhawan somewhat unlucky in this regard.

He said:

“Look I don’t think Dhawan did much wrong to miss out. It is just about someone else performing so much better that it was impossible to ignore.”

“They have decided that Shubman Gill is the present and the future of Indian cricket and sometimes that’s the price someone else has to pay. So a bit unfortunate for Dhawan.”

Ishan Kishan’s impressive 82 runs against Pakistan have sparked a discussion about whether India should continue to choose him over KL Rahul, who is also an option.
