Jaya Bhardwaj, the wife of cricketer Deepak Chahar, shared an emotional message on social media, paying tribute to the pacer’s former IPL team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On Monday, November 25, Mumbai Indians (MI) acquired Deepak during the mega auction.
Deepak joined CSK in 2018 and played a pivotal role for the franchise until the 2024 season. The 32-year-old appeared in 76 matches, taking 76 wickets, and was instrumental in CSK’s IPL title victories in 2018, 2021, and 2023.
In a memorable moment during the 2021 season, Deepak proposed to Jaya in the stands in Dubai after a match against Punjab Kings. On Monday, Jaya expressed her gratitude to CSK through a heartfelt Instagram post, saying:
“From cheering in the stands to celebrating love on the field where I said “yes” in front of the whole crowd. My heart will always be tied to this team. Forever grateful for the wonderful memories @chennaiipl.”

Mumbai Indians acquire Deepak Chahar for ₹9.25 crore
Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians secured Rajasthan pacer Deepak Chahar for ₹9.25 crore during the 2025 mega auction. The 32-year-old has played 81 IPL matches, picking up 77 wickets, and has also represented India in 25 T20Is and 13 ODIs, taking 31 and 16 wickets, respectively.
Whereas, the most expensive player acquired by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2025 auction was Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who was bought for ₹17.50 crore.
