Tilak Varma, Rajat Patidar Named Captains For India A Against Australia A

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Rajat Patidar and Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Prabhsimran Singh have been selected in the India A squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia A, starting on September 30.

Patidar has been appointed as captain for the opening fixture, while Mumbai Indians (MI) player Tilak Varma will take over the leadership role for the second and third games, with Patidar serving as his deputy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the squads on September 14.

Additionally, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh have been named in the squad for the last two matches. Tilak, Harshit, and Arshdeep are currently part of India’s T20I team competing in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai.

The series will kick off on September 30, with the second match scheduled for October 3 and the final game set for October 5, 2025. All three encounters will take place at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, starting at 1:30 PM IST.

India To Tour Australia For Limited-Overs Multiformat Series

After the home series against Australia A, Team India will travel to Australia in October-November for a multi-format limited-overs tour. The schedule includes three ODIs from October 19 to 25, followed by a five-match T20I series starting on October 29 and concluding on November 8.

Both series hold significant importance for India as they build towards the 2026 T20 World Cup and the 2027 ODI World Cup. In the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, India began their campaign with a win against the UAE and are set to face Pakistan in their second group match on September 14.

First ODI: Rajat Patidar (C), Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Suryansh Shedge, Nishant Sindhu, Ayush Badoni, Riyan Parag, Gurjapneet Singh, Yudhvir Singh, Vipraj Nigam, Ravi Bishnoi, Abhishek Porel (WK), Priyansh Arya, Simarjeet Singh.

Second and third ODI: Tilak Varma (C), Rajat Patidar (VC), Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Riyan Parag, Vipraj Nigam, Yudhvir Singh, Ayush Badoni, Suryansh Shedge, Nishant Sindhu, Gurjapneet Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Ravi Bishnoi, Abhishek Porel (WK), Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh.
