“Time Will Tell How Much I Know About Cricket” – Mohsin Naqvi Responds Strongly To A Journalist During A Press Conference

The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi suitably responded to a journalist for questioning his knowledge about cricket on Monday during a press conference. The PCB chief has assured that results will come out of the new initiatives they have taken.

In addition, Naqvi who replaced Zaka Ashraf as PCB chairman, has addressed issues related to Pakistan cricket but has seen several lows during his brief tenure with the men’s team facing a humiliating exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Naqvi replied to the journalist’s question at the conference by insisting that he was there to deliver regardless of what people think about him. According to cricketpakistan.pk, he quoted:

“Time will tell how much I know about cricket but we are here to deliver. I don’t care about what people say but you will see the results. I am bringing in former stars to vet and improve the cricket system and end this culture of personal likes and dislikes.”

After losing to India at the T20 World Cup, where they could not chase a target of 120 runs, he called for ‘major surgery’. He began by dismissing Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from the selection committee.

“The current standings fail to capture the full potential and historical significance of Pakistan cricket”- Mohsin Naqvi

Naqvi let people know he was going to introduce the Champions One-Day Cup, the Champions T20 Cup and the Champions First-Class Cup because these three competitions will engage with extremely skilled players. As per the words quoted by pcb.co.pk, he stated that:

“Our current standings – sixth in Tests, fourth in ODIs and seventh in T20Is – do not reflect the true potential and legacy of Pakistan cricket. To restore our rightful place at the top of world cricket, we must innovate and strategically enhance, expand and strengthen our domestic structure.”

“The introduction of the three Champions tournaments is a bold step in this direction. The Champions tournaments will bring together our most talented and consistent performers from domestic cricket with our centrally contracted players, creating an environment that mirrors the intensity of international cricket.”

Pakistan’s upcoming series is a two-test contest against Bangladesh at home, commencing on August 21.
