Cricket will be reintroduced in the Olympics going to take place in 2028 in Los Angeles, California, United States. Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian cricket team believes that there’s a good chance that India will be somewhere close to that medal.
In the last three ICC (International Cricket Council) trophies, India has played all the finals and even won two of them. Virat believes that India will also be somewhere close to winning that medal. This is something no cricket expert in the world would deny at this moment. India has the best white ball cricket team globally and arguably the best red ball team too.
Virat said, “To be the Olympic Champions will be an absolutely Magnificent feeling. I’m sure we’ll be somewhere close to that medal.”
Virat Kohli to Play Olympics or Not?
Virat Kohli has never directly accepted or declined that he will play the cricket in Olympics for India. By 2028, Virat Kohli would have aged close to 40. This is an age where almost every player retires from international cricket. There is a long time for the tournament to take place in LA.
As of now, Virat Kohli has expressed that it will be absolutely magnificent to become the Olympic champions. Virat has joined the RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) camp ahead of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025 and is currently one of the fittest cricketers in the team. He will likely play and open the batting for RCB in all the games this season as well.
Virat Kohli has retired from the T20i cricket but is still very much a part of the ODI (One Day Internationals) team and the test team. However, a key thing to note here is that Virat has said that he doesn’t have another Australia tour in him.
