“Today, We Went From Two To Three” – Rahul Tewatia And Wife Ridhi Pannu Welcome Their First Child

Gujarat Titans’ Rahul Tewatia and his wife Ridhi Pannu embraced parenthood as they welcomed their first daughter. The 30-year-old cricketer announced this delightful news on Instagram on September 5. The couple got engaged in February 2021 and tied the knot on November 29, 2021. Ridhi, known for her charismatic personality and fashion passion, is now a proud mother.

Rahul Tewatia accompanied a picture of the baby’s tiny feet in his post, extending a warm welcome to her arrival.

“Today, we went from two to three. She’s here! She’s here today. Beautiful and Sweet😍❤️ #blessed😇,” he wrote.

Tewatia’s recent appearance was in the IPL a few months ago, when his team, the Gujarat Titans, experienced a heart-wrenching defeat in the final against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Ahmedabad.

Rahul Tewatia, who made his debut for Haryana in 2013, has seen limited opportunities in first-class and List-A cricket. Despite having respectable first-class figures of 17 wickets in seven matches at an average of 30, he hasn’t been a regular in red-ball cricket since 2020. In List-A cricket, he has been more prominent, participating in 30 matches and taking 44 wickets at an impressive average of 23.81. Tewatia has excelled with the bat in the 50-over format, averaging 36.15 with a strike rate exceeding 115.

However, his primary strength lies in T20 cricket, both domestically and in the IPL. He has impressive stats as a batsman and bowler in the shortest format, with a batting average of 26.66 and a strike rate of 142.72, along with 68 wickets in 128 T20 games. Even more remarkable is how he evolved during his IPL career. Initially, he began as a bowling all-rounder in his early seasons but later developed into a specialized finisher in recent editions.

In the 2020 IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals, Rahul Tewatia boasted an average of 42.50 in 14 matches, along with a strike rate of 139.34. His impressive performances led to his first call-up to the Indian T20I squad for the home series against England in 2021.

Tewatia’s reputation as a cool and effective finisher continued to grow during his two seasons with the Gujarat Titans in 2022 and 2023. In these seasons, the left-hander accumulated over 300 runs in 33 matches at a remarkable strike rate of nearly 150, often making game-changing contributions.

Given the nickname “Iceman” for his ability to deliver magical finishes, Tewatia played a pivotal role in the Titans’ victory in their debut IPL season last year and their qualification for this season’s final.

Despite evolving into a destructive batter and a part-time bowler in the IPL, Tewatia still managed to secure 32 wickets in 81 games, maintaining an economy rate of less than eight runs per over.
