Former Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody has rejoined the franchise as the Director of Cricket. Moody had earlier coached the team for seven seasons, winning the IPL title in 2016 and leading the team to the finals of IPL 2018. Trevor Baylis replaced Moody as the coach of the side before the IPL 2019. Bayliss took England to the finals of the World Cup.

The SRH franchise shared the news on their Twitter handle. “@TomMoodyCricket has been appointed as the Director of Cricket for SunRisers Hyderabad. #OrangeArmy #KeepRising” their Twitter handle wrote.

Tom Moody Returns To SRH Camp

Tom Moody was earlier working with mentor VVS Laxman and bowing coach Muttiah Muralitharan with SRH. The trio worked together forming a good core of the side and helping them to their maiden IPL title in 2016. David Warner, Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were identified by the coaching staff as the core of the side and they built the side around them.

Meanwhile, while leaving the side Moody had tweeted “It’s been a privilege to work for SunRisers Hyderabad, I have made many friendships and good memories. The success we’ve enjoyed over the 7 yrs is a testament to a hard-working team on and off the field. A special thank you to the players, support staff and all the fans.”

The Moody-Bayliss combination has won three IPL titles in total. Trevor Bayliss won two titles with KKR (2012, 2014) with Gautam Gambhir leading the side. The two of them have rich coaching experience and will need to make use of it to the fullest in the upcoming mega auction before IPL 2021.

The addition of Moody is a welcome addition with the team management looking to build a strong team ahead of next IPL season.
