Team India scripted history at the Newlands in Cape Town as they defeated South Africa on Thursday, January 4 in the second and final Test of the tour. They won the match by seven wickets, chasing 79 on a challenging pitch. With this win, the series has been drawn 1-1, with both teams sharing the trophy.
Batting first, South Africa was bowled out for a paltry 55 runs. Their batters failed to survive a fantastic spell by Mohammed Siraj, who took six wickets in the innings. In response, India took a first-innings lead of 98 runs. Aiden Markram stood tall for South Africa in the second innings, slamming a century. He scored 106 runs from 103 deliveries with seventeen boundaries and two sixes.
South Africa managed 176 runs on the back of Markram’s knock before they were bowled out. Jasprit Bumrah took six wickets in the innings. India had a small but challenging total to chase down. However, the opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma ensured they started off well. India quickly raced to 44 runs as Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed six boundaries. Rohit Sharma stayed unbeaten on 17 as India won the match comfortably. This is their first-ever win in Cape Town.

Excellent win for India in very challenging conditions at Newlands. Not an ideal Test pitch but Siraj and Bumrah made the most of the assistance and the batters did enough to square the series. Important not to judge the batting group on the basis of these tracks. Well done to… pic.twitter.com/ZuqBGX5xfh
