However, here are the few moments where Virat Kohli lost his cool:-

- India vs Australia 2012 (Middle finger to Australian crowd)
It was back in 2012, when Virat Kohli went on a tour under the captainship of MS Dhoni. However, this time it was the fans at the Sydney cricket ground who unnecessary provoked the young lad by their constant indecent comments. Virat Kohli lost his temper and replied the crowd by showing the middle finger which gave rise to a lot of controversies in the media.
Later Virat Kohli justified his action on twitter saying,
“I agree cricketers don”t have to retaliate. What when the crowd says the worst things about your mother and sister. The worst I”ve heard,” tweeted Kohli.
- IPL 2013 (Virat Kohli vs Gautam Gambhir)
Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir have played together not only for the Indian Cricket team but also for their state side Delhi and North Zone. However, it was back in IPL 2013 when the two captains of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders were involved in an ugly spat on the field.
It was during the first delivery of the 10th over bowled by Lakshmipathy Balaji who took Kohli’s wicket who was caught in the sweeper cover region.
Gautam Gambhir and his teammates started celebrating Kohli’s wicket whereas Virat Kohli instead of going back to the pavilion walked toward the short extra cover and made a remark. Gambhir was seen walking angrily towards Virat while Rajat Bhatia tried to calm things down between the two players.
However, the incident was just an on field battle between the two players.
“Some things happen in the heat of the moment…it’s nothing” – Gambhir
- India vs Australia Test 2017
It was on Day 4 of India vs Australia second test where things started to heat up between the two Captains. Steve Smith was ruled out lbw in an intense chase of 188, apparently, Smith was seen looking at the dressing room for an indication whether to go for the review or not. This incident exasperated the Indian Skipper, who went on the press conference saying,
“There are loop holes in every technology. People are bound to make mistakes…. But we take our own decisions; we don’t look for confirmation upstairs.”- Virat Kohli
“I saw it happen twice, their players going upstairs (looking at the dressing room). That is why the umpire knew what was happening. We brought it to their attention and told the match referee. They knew what was going on. This is a line you don’t cross. I will never do that.” – Virat Kohli
- Virat Kohli vs Mitchell Johnson
Virat Kohli, however, has matured over the past few years but that doesn’t mean he’ll take anything in his own stride. As an Indian fan, you’ll always feel proud to see an Indian batsman giving it back to Australia at their own soil.
It was during 2014 where the left arm fast bowler, Mitchell Johnson was trying to send Virat Kohli back to the pavilion whilst he was batting on 84.
Virat Kohli was scoring runs which frustrated the Aussies at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The incident took place when Johnson took the ball aiming at the wickets but it ended up hitting Kohli in the thighs as he turned while watching the ball being thrown at him. However, Johnson apologized to Kohli for his recklessness.
- Virat Kohli vs James Faulkner
Virat Kohli was in a terrific form and on his verge to score another brilliant ton. This frustrated the Australian bowler James Faulkner who exchanged quite a few words with Kohli at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Faulkner was constantly trying to rile up Kohli and get him distracted.
“You’re wasting your energy. I’ve smashed you enough in my life. Just go and bowl”- Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli registered his 24th International century and 7000 ODI runs at that match.
