In the fifth test against England at Chennai, Karun Nair became the second Indian to score triple century in test cricket. His triple hundred helped India reach 759/7, India”s highest score in an innings in test cricket. It was because of his spectacular effort that India were able to gain a huge first innings lead and beat England by an innings despite conceding 477 in first innings.

The skipper led from the front with 3 double hundreds in the season becoming the first batsman to score double hundreds in 4 successive test series (He had scored 200 vs WI in Antigua in July 2016). Sadly the red-hot season ended in a cold way as he managed only 46 runs in Australia series at an average of 9.

3) Winning despite conceding 400

In the series against England in Mumbai and Chennai test, India came back after conceding 400 in first innings and went on to win the match by an innings. They almost did the same against Australia in Ranchi. Making such a comeback after falling behind in the game so much shows the fightback level of Indian team.

2) Series win in last test series against all nations

By reclaiming the Border Gavaskar trophy, Team Incredible became Team Invincible. India has won its last test series against all cricketing nations. They beat Zimbabwe in 2005, Pakistan in 2007, Sri Lanka and South Africa in 2015, West Indies, New Zealand and England in 2016 and Bangladesh, Australia in 2017.

1) No.1 Test Ranking

India gained No.1 test ranking after winning 2nd test vs New Zealand at Kolkata. Since then they have stayed on top. India with 121 ratings are way ahead of other teams which means they are there to stay for quite some time until any other team play out of their skins or Indian team gets into a rough patch for a long time. The second ranked team, Australia is 12 ratings away, sitting on 109.
