All-rounders are the most important part of any team which can contribute with both bat and ball. In modern-day cricket, especially in 50 overs format, all-rounder plays a vital role who can change the course of the game with great batting or a brilliant spell. Each team has impressive all-rounders, they need to develop their skills and enter into the national squads to become the top quality player in ODI format.

Here we look at the top 5 all-rounders in ODI cricket during modern day cricket.

Hardik Pandya who turned 24 today, is India’s best all-rounder in 50 overs format at present moment. He made his One-day international debut against New Zealand at Dharamshala last year. Since then, the hard-hitting all-rounder has played 26 matches, scored 530 runs and taken 29 wickets so far.

In 2017, he has been exceptional with both bat and ball. Hardik Pandya has scored so far 485 runs in 22 matches ( 14 innings) with 4 half-centuries to his name. His best score came during the recently concluded ODI series against Australia in Chennai where he scored 83 in 63 balls. Pandya has the ability to play quick-fire knocks which would help team India to win matches. He has a strike rate of 123.09

While bowling he has done well for India in limited overs format this year, taking 25 wickets in 22 matches (21 innings) with best figures of 3/40. If he could bowl 10 overs on a regular basis for Virat Kohli, he could become one of the best all-rounders for team India.

Ben Stokes another impressive all-rounder plays for England. He made his One-day international debut against Ireland in 2011. Since then, he has played 62 ODI’s, scoring 1650 runs with the best score of 102*. He has 3 centuries to his name along with 10 half centuries.

While bowling he has taken so far, 53 wickets in 62 matches with best figures of 5/30. In the year 2017, Stokes played 15 matches (13 innings) with 616 runs. He has scored 2 centuries and 4 half-centuries so far.

His best score came against in the Champions Trophy group match against Australia where he scored unbeaten 102 runs and knocked the arch-rivals out of the tournament. While bowling, Stokes has impressed with the ball taking 14 wickets in 15 matches ( 13 innings) with best figures of 3/43. The hard-hitting all-rounder can hit big sixes and bring results in England’s favor. Ben is currently 5th in ODI all-rounders ranking.

Moeen Ali is also another impressive all-rounder in modern day cricket. He made his ODI debut for England in 2014 against West Indies. Since then he has played, 63 ODI’s scoring 1344 runs with the best score of 128. He has 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries to his name in ODI cricket so far.

While bowling, Ali has taken 49 wickets in 63 matches with best figures of 3/32 with an economy of 5.12 which is great for a spinner. In the year 2017, Moeen Ali has impressed with the bat scoring 402 runs in 17 matches ( 12 innings) with the best score of 102. During those 17 matches, he has made 1 century and 2 half-centuries. His strike rate comes to 148.88 which shows the value of Ali in the lower order for England.

He has not taken many wickets for England this year in ODI cricket. Moeen Ali is at number 8 in current ODI all-rounders rankings and would hope to contribute more in upcoming Ashes series.

The Bangladeshi all-rounder is the best all-rounder in One day International cricket. He made his ODI debut for Bangladesh on 6th August 2006. Since then he has played 177 ODI’s, scoring 4983 runs with best score 134. He has scored 7 centuries and 34 half-centuries.

While bowling, the all-rounder has taken 224 wickets in 177 matches with best figures of 5/47 at an economy of 4.41. He played a key role in helping Bangladesh winning matches against top teams like India, Pakistan, South Africa and also reached the quarterfinals of World Cup 2015.

In the year 2017, Al Hasan has made 333 runs in 11 matches ( 9 innings) with the best score of 114. During 11 matches he has played so far, he has scored 1 century and 2 half-centuries.

Mohammad Nabi is another impressive all-rounder who plays for Afghanistan. He made his ODI debut against Scotland in 2009. Since then he has played in 83 ODI’s scoring 1942 runs with the best score of 116. His performances have been crucial for Afghanistan with 1 century and 9 half century.

He bowls off-spin and troubles with his bowling style. Nabi has taken so far 85 wickets in 83 matches with best figures of 4/10.

In the year 2017, Nabi has contributed with the ball taking 16 wickets in 13 matches ( 12 innings) with best figures of 4/30 at an economy of 4.37. He is currently at number 3. His ability to play quick-fire knocks and with the ball pick wickets makes him one of best all-rounders in modern day cricket.
