The Indian Women’s cricket Team led by Mithali Raj has ended the tournament being the proud runner ups of the WWC2017. They were defeated by England by 9 runs in the night of the finals.
Nevertheless, it was a great tournament and the tournament saw some of the breathtaking performances by our Indian Team.

- MITHALI RAJ
India’s Captain Mithali Raj is definitely one of the finest batswomen to have ever played the game. Mithali is the highest run scorer for India with 409 runs which displayed her technique and skills. In the virtual quarter-final match against New Zealand, Mithali smashed a brilliant 109 from 123 balls which included 11 fours and was also her 6th ODI ton. Mithali Raj who had the potential to single handily win the matches for India was poorly run out in the finals which were a big shock to the entire cricket team.

The fans of cricket will remember the 2017 Women’s World Cup by the outstanding 171* off just 115 balls scored by Harmanpreet Kaur. Harmanpreet Kaur played her career best by smashing Australian bowlers in the semi-finals. Throughout the tournament, Harmanpreet has amazed us with her mind-blowing performances and her skills. Kaur’s 171 is also the second highest score by an Indian batswoman besides Deepti Sharma’s 188 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur has contributed immensely to help India reach the finals.
- DEEPTI SHARMA
The 19-year-old Deepti Sharma has become an integral part of the Indian women’s cricket Team is currently India’s best all-rounder. Deepti’s Sharma 78 against Sri Lanka and her outstanding wicket taking abilities helped India to reach the finals. Deepti Sharma marked her place in the Indian squad as a brilliant fielder through her direct throw in the finals to get the dangerous Katherine Brunt.

Punam Raut, India’s opener was one the most consistent players when it came to batting and scoring runs for India. Punam in her 8 matches has scored 381 runs at an average of 42.33. Punam Raut is also the 5th highest run scorer in the tournament and 2nd highest run scorer for India. Punam’s 381 runs included 1 ton and 2 half tons. Punam smashed 106 runs against Australia and had 2 big half centuries (86 and 86) which were both against England.
- JHULAN GOSWAMI
Jhulan Goswami ended up with 10 wickets in her bag but was unimpressive in the start. Jhulan’s spell in the finals against England has been of the finest spells by an Indian bowler throughout the tournament. Jhulan picked 3 wickets against England and gave just 23 runs. Jhulan Goswami’s growth throughout the tournament as a player has been noticeable.
