Ranji Trophy is the oldest and prestigious domestic tournaments in Indian Cricket. This tournament provides a platform for players all over the country to perform, get noticed and selected to represent Indian under 19, India A squad or National senior team. On the eve of the 2017/18 Ranji Trophy season that starts tomorrow

1. Wasim Jaffer (10143)

Wasim Jaffer is the leading runs scorer in Ranji Trophy tournament. He is the only batsmen to score over 10,000 runs in Ranji Trophy history with 10143 runs to his credit so far. His Ranji Trophy career began during the 1996/97 season for Mumbai and continued to play for Mumbai till 2015.

In 2016, Jaffer shifted to Vidarbha Team. He also represented India in 31 test matches scoring 1944 runs with an average of 34.10 with 5 centuries and 11 half-centuries. His contribution to Ranji Trophy has been great playing 129 matches (201 innings) with the best score of 314 not out. Jaffer’s Ranji Trophy average is amazing with 56.98 with 35 centuries and 41 half-centuries to his name.

2. Amol Mazumdar (9202)

Amol Mazumdar is second in the list of leading run-getters in Ranji Trophy history. He played for Mumbai and scored 260 in his debut against Haryana in 1993/94 edition. He played for Mumbai till 2007. Later he shifted to Assam and then to Andhra. He has retired now and does Cricket commentary. Mazumdar was a right-handed batsman who never got a chance to play for India.

He scored 9202 runs in 136 matches (200 innings) with the best score of 260. He had an average of 51.4 with 28 centuries and 45 half-centuries.

3. Devendra Bundela (8851)

Devendra Bundela one of the most experienced players in this prestigious tournament. He made his Ranji Trophy debut for Madhya Pradesh in 1995/96. During the 2016/17 season, the right-handed batsmen made a record of most number of appearances in Ranji Trophy edition. Bundela is currently 40 years of age and is the third leading run-getters. He has a total of 8851 runs in 138 matches (220 innings) with the best score of 188 at an average of 46.09. In Ranji Trophy, Bundela has hit 24 centuries and 47 half-centuries. With all these records he did not get an opportunity to play for India.

4. Mithun Manhas (8854)

Mithun Manhas another experienced player made his Ranji Trophy debut in 1997/98 edition for Delhi. He moved to Jammu and Kashmir side in September 2015/16 season. The right-handed batsman has scored a total of 8854 runs in 135 matches (206 innings) with the best score of 193. His average comes to 48.32 with 25 centuries and 45 half-centuries. He did not play for the Indian senior team. His last Ranji Trophy match was against Himachal Pradesh at in Ranchi 2016.

5. Hrishikesh Kanitkar (8059)

The stylish left-handed batsmen Hrishikesh Kanitkar made his Ranji Trophy debut in 1994/95 season. He played for 3 teams including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and finally Rajasthan. He led Rajasthan side in 2010/11 edition and helped them to win their maiden title. Kanitkar also coached Goa stateside in the 2015/16 edition of the tournament. He played for India in 2 test matches, 34 One day Internationals. Kanitkar was also a part-time bowler.

He was the fifth leading run-getter in Ranji Trophy history scoring 8059 runs in 105 matches (155 innings) with the best score of 290. He has an average of 58.82 with 28 centuries and 35 half-centuries.
