5) The average number of runs scored in one match in IPL is 303

After 10 seasons, 600+ matches, 165000 runs, the average number of runs in a match comes down to 303 i.e. 152 in an innings. It has increased in last 2 years because of big bats, flat pitches and small boundaries. 180 is just a par score these days.

4) Yuvraj is the only cricketer to take a hat-trick and score 50 in same match in IPL

Yuvraj Singh is veteran when it comes to abbreviated versions of the game. He is the only cricketer to take a hattrick and score 50 in same match in IPL. It happened in second edition of IPL at Durban on 1 May 2009 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Yuvraj”s hattrick and 50 off 34 were not enough to win the game for his side as Punjab lost to RCB by 8 runs.

3) Gambhir and Dhoni are the only two cricketers to score 3000 runs as captain in IPL

Two of the three captains to lift the trophy twice, Gambhir and Dhoni are the only two cricketers to score 3000 runs as captain in IPL. Gambhir has led KKR for 6 seasons and was skipper of DD in 2010, while MS has led the CSK for 8 seasons and RPS for one season in 2016.

2) Paul Valthaty & Manish Pandey only uncapped players to score IPL hundreds

Manish Pandey became the first Indian batsman to score IPL hundred after his 73-ball 114 vs Deccan Chargers at Centurion on 18 May 2009. Paul Valthaty was one-season wonder like many others. He announced himself on IPL scene with a 63-ball 120 vs CSK at Mohali but has faded away since then. They are the only 2 uncapped players to score hundreds in IPL.

Brendon McCullum and Manish Pandey are the joint holders for record of most balls faced in an IPL innings. McCullum set the stage on fire in first ever IPL match with a belligerent 158* off 73 balls. Pandey”s innings was not as destructive as Baz”s still good though with 114.
