Top 5 veteran players in IPL: IPL has the most diverse age groups competing one stage. For a few players, age has never been a barrier to performing at this level.  Here is the list of the five oldest players who have represented their teams in various seasons of the IPL

 

  1. Brad Hogg, 45 years 

Brad Hogg has mastered one of the rarest skills in the game of cricket. He is one of the few Chinamen bowlers around and has a superb wrong one that deceives the best of batsmen and bowls the odd flippers that usually result in a leg before or bowled. Brad is the oldest bowler in IPL, and he has rendered services for RR in the past, is currently representing the KKR. His record consists of 10 wickets from 10 matches with an economy rate of 7. 22 and a best bowling figure of 2/31.

  1. Sanath Jayasuriya, 45 years

Sanath Jayasuria was a dashing opener who retired from Sri Lanka cricket. He has made debut for the MI in the opening season and opened the batting with Sachin Tendulkar on many occasions. The left-hander is a hard hitting batsman and plays splendid cut and pull shot and can bowl good off spinners too. He is not a part of the Mumbai squad anymore but was one of the veterans the IPL has seen. The Srilankan batsman holds a rare record of hitting a 17 ball 48 against the KKR to take the MI team home in a crunch game.

  1. Pravin Tambe, 44 years 

Pravin Tambe is the most successful veteran player in the IPL. His ability to bowl flat with a decent pace and turn the bowl which makes it very hard for  batsmen go after him. He has produced many breakthroughs, and RR depends on him heavily. This time he will play for Gujarat Lions. His IPL record says, and he has taken 22 wickets from 23 matches with a good economy rate of 7.32 and a best bowling figures of  4/20.

  1. Rahul Dravid, 42 years 

Rahul Dravid needs no introduction and is one of the most technically correct batsmen the game has ever seen.  He is now the coach of Rajasthan Royals chief and has played for Rajasthan and Bangalore in the Past. His ability to play the straight bat shots and get quick singles has made him one of the best batsman in IPL.  His IPL record consists of  2174 runs from 87 games with a highest score of 72.

  1. Brad Hodge, 40 years

Brad Hodge has been prolific run-getter for the Rajasthan Royals. His ability to hit the ball hard and long and can be a perfect for a format like T20. He is 40 years and there never a drop in his talent and performance. His IPL record consists of 1400 runs from 61 game with a highest score of 73. He is the coach of Gujarat Lions this time.
