Top 6 Uncapped Players Sold For High Price In IPL Auction 2018

The IPL Auction for the 11th season took place in Bengaluru on January 27-28. It was the biggest auction after four years in which the many players were up for grabs by those eight teams.

Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will replace Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions this season after their two years suspension got completed.

Here is a list of few uncapped players who made it big in this year”s auction

1. Krunal Pandya [8.8 Crores]

The 36-year-old, Krunal Pandya is an all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls slow left-arm orthodox. He is an uncapped India player who plays for Baroda and India A in domestic cricket, and for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He became the Leading Run Scorer and Leading Wicket-taker for Baroda in 2017 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 366 runs in 8 matches and picked 11 wickets.

He produced consistent performances with the bat and ball in IPL-10 and picked 10 wickets in 13 matches and scored 247 runs in 11 innings for Mumbai Indians in the previous season. He was retained for a hefty 8.8 crore rupees by Mumbai which is 22 times higher than his base price of 40 Lakh rupees.

2. Jofra Archer [7.2 crores]

The 23-year-old, Jofra Archer is a Barbadian born English cricketer who plays for Sussex County Cricket Club. The all-rounder cricketer is yet to make team for his home country but plays for several T20 leagues in the world cricket.

He is the leading wicket-taker for Hobart Hurricanes in 10 matches of the ongoing Big Bash League this season. He picked up 27 wickets in 23 T20s in 2017 and can contribute with the bat as well. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for 7.2 crores.

3. Ishan Kishan [6.2 crores]

The 19-year-old, Ishan Kishan is an Indian first-class cricketer who plays for Jharkhand. He was named the captain of team India for 2016 U/19 WC. Ishan is a left-handed batsman and wicket-keeper.

He was part of the Gujarat Lions in last two IPL seasons and he scored 277 runs in 10 innings in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League. He was bought by Mumbai Indians for 6.2 crores.

 

4. Krishnappa Gowtham [6.2 crores]

19-year-old, Krishnappa Gowtham is an Indian first-class cricketer who plays for Karnataka. His professional career began on a high note when he emerged as the second-highest wicket-taker in the U15. In the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy season, Gowtham picked up two consecutive five-wicket hauls, against Delhi and Assam.

In October 2017, he scored his maiden first-class century, batting for Karnataka against Assam in Ranji. He was bought by Mumbai Indians for 2 crores in the previous season but didn”t get to play a single game.

5. D”Archy Short [4 crores]

D”Arcy John Matthew Short is a 27-year-old Australian cricketer from the Northern Territory who plays for Western Australia. He is the leading run scorer of the ongoing Big Bash League in Australia. He scored 504 runs for Hobart Hurricanes this season that included an innings of unbeaten 122 runs off 69 balls against Brisbane Heats.

He is named in Australia”s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the 2017–18 Trans-Tasman Tri-Series, scheduled to start in February 2018. He was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for 4 crores in IPL Auction.

6. Sidharth Kaul [3.8 Crores]

Sidharth Kaul is a Right-arm medium-fast bowler for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He took 16 wickets in 10 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the previous season. He was their third best bowler last season and is retained by SRH in the auction ceremony.

He has played with numerous teams in the Indian Premier League and was part of the U/19 WC team in 2008. Overall he picked up 22 wickets in 15T20s in 2017.
