The IPL 2020 league stage came to an end on Tuesday, November 03 with Sunrisers Hyderabad becoming the last team to qualify for the IPL 2020 playoffs. They beat Mumbai Indians by 10 wickets in Sharjah to coast to the playoffs, while eliminating Kolkata Knight Riders in the process.
Mumbai now play Delhi Capitals in the first qualifier followed by SRH and RCB in the eliminator. For now, we will have a look at the top scorers of respective franchises in the season.
Top Scorers of Respective Franchises of IPL 2020:
Quinton De Kock (MI) – 443 runs
After starting the season slowly, De Kock roared back into form after the first few matches. He scored 67 in the first leg against SRH and lost his form a bit. He then scored a fluent 53 against Delhi Capitals and did not look back after that. he scored 443 runs including four fifties to his name.
Shikhar Dhawan (DC) – 525 runs
Like De Kock, Shikhar Dhawan also started his season with a few low-scores. He scored an unbeaten 69 to kick off his good run, His next scores read 57, 101, 106 and a 54 in Delhi last league game against RCB. He scored back to back hundreds in the IPL, thereby becoming the first player to do so. He still can add to his tally in the IPL 2020 playoffs.
KL Rahul (KXIP) – 670 runs
KL Rahul had another memorable season with the bat, while his side finished sixth in the points table He scored 670 runs and won the orange cap from 14 games. He scored a hundred and five fifties in the season as he enjoyed batting in the UAE conditions.
He found partners in Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal as well in the process. Unfortunately, Rahul was guilty of soring slowly for his team in the games that they lost.
David Warner (SRH) – 595 Runs
This is the sixth consecutive season that David Warner has scored over 500 runs for SRH. He has been the most consistent overseas batsmen in the tournament and his stats are enough to show his case. He scored an unbeaten 85 to take his team to the IPL 2020 playoffs.
His captaincy in the most toughest of times in the season was special to say the least. The way he handled the team in between defeats shows his maturity as a skipper as well.
Shubman Gill (KKR) – 440 runs
The promising youngster ended the season with 440 runs from 14 matches. It included three fifty-plus scores and a couple of 40s. Gill was expected to do big things for KKR, however, he was inconsistent with his performances. His inability to give quick starts and play quickly as an opener was criticized by cricket experts.
He was a part of the leadership group of KKr as per their coach Brendon McCullum. Hopefully, he learns from the mistakes this season and returns stronger next season.
Devdutt Padikkal (RCB) – 472 runs
Devdutt Padikkal was one of the talented youngsters to watch out this season. His languid style of play made people compare him with Yuvraj Singh. He ended with 472 runs this season and was the highest run-getter for RCB till the league stage. It included five fifties and important fifties at that.
He provided his team with good starts in almost every match and dominated inside the batting powerplay. He along with Aaron Finch formed a good partnership at the top for RCB.
Faf Du Plessis (CSK) – 449 runs
In a season where the entire CSK batting line-up struggled to get runs, Du Plessis played a lone battle with the bat. He scored 449 runs from 13 games. He hit four fifties in the process, with a highest of 87*. He formed a good partnership with Shane Watson up at the top in the first half.
In the second phase, one among Watson or Faf played the games, to give the other players in the team a chance. CSK ended the season at the seventh position in the points table with six wins.
Sanju Samson (RR) – 375 runs
Sanju Samson started his season with back to back fifties in the first two matches. He then tapered off badly and completely lost his form. His lack of form saw RR struggle to score runs in the middle-order. He scored three fifties throughout the season, two of which came in the first two games. He ended the season with 375 runs from 14 games.
