Steve Smith had a rollercoaster of a ride so far in his captaincy career. From getting sacked as a captain after the infamous sandpaper gate saga to leading the Aussies after nearly four years is quite a redemption. The day night Ashes Test saw Steve Smith’s Australia demolish the English in convincing fashion.

Addressing the media at the end of the Adelaide Test, Steve Smith advised Joe Root to trust himself and help his team grow and to be successful as he can be.

He also spoke about how important seeing what you can do to improve is always key whether as a player or as a leader.

Steve Smith said, “There’s always going to be critics out there that critique your performance as a captain. I guess for him (Root), the best advice I could give is just trust yourself and do everything you can to help your team grow and be as successful as you can be.”

“Sometimes, as a captain, you get outplayed by the opposition and there’s not a great deal you can do. But just reflecting or seeing what you can do better is always important, that’s part of being a player or a leader.”

Australia go 2-0 up in Ashes series

The hosts registered an astounding win in the 2nd Ashes Test, beating England by a mammoth margin of 275 runs. Marnus Labuschagne led the team with the bat scoring a century and a fifty while Jhye Richardson, who made a comeback after a long haul, picked up a five-wicket haul in the second innings to help the Aussies register a convincing win.

Australia will face England in the third test on 26th december at the MCG as Pat Cummins is expected to return and lead the side.
