Kenya cricket team captain Shem Ngoche is eyeing to beat Nepal in the upcoming five-match T20I series to improve their ICC rankings. The series will get underway on August 25 (Thursday) at the Nairobi Gymkhana in Nairobi.

Kenya is currently ranked 30th in the ICC T20 Rankings for teams and will aim to win as many games as possible in this series. Addressing reporters on the eve of the match, Ngoche said:

“If we win most of the games in this series our ranking will go up in the T20 because they are international T20s, so, for us is to try and win as many games as possible in the five-game series.”

Nepal captain Sandeep Lamichhane, on the other hand, is confident on putting up a brave show despite having a new squad at hand. He is asserted that they are not taking Kenya lightly and expects them to put up a good show.

“After a decade apart, we have a new team and we are ready for the matches. Our target is to win most of our matches. Kenya is a strong side and we will not underrate them, we expect them to come out strongly because they will be at home and have fans,” Lamichhane said.

Kenya head coach David Obuya is confident that his team will play entertaining cricket despite coming off from a one-week break. The former cricketer-turned-coach said:

“The team was given one week to rest to re-energize and they are now focused to face Nepal. We promise Kenyans to expect an entertaining match and a positive result.”

Kenya and Nepal last met in November 2013 in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers with Nepal dominating.
