Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets in a one-sided encounter at Wankhede Stadium. Gujarat successfully chased down the target of 134 runs set by CSK in 19.1 overs. With this win, the Titans have sealed a top-two finish in the league phase.
Wriddhiman Saha gave a great start to Gujarat in the powerplay while chasing the target of 134 runs. He smashed some beautiful boundaries on the deliveries of Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh in the first six overs. Gujarat scored 71 runs in the first 8 overs of the run chase.
Matheesha Pathirana grabbed the wicket of Shubhman Gill in the 8th over. This was the first ball of his IPL debut. Mathew Wade and Hardik Pandya were also dismissed cheaply. However, CSK never looked like making a comeback in the game due to a very small target set by them.
Saha played a mature knock of 67 runs in 57 balls to take Gujarat Titans home safely. Pathirana was the most successful bowler for CSK. He picked two crucial wickets of Shubhman Gill and Hardik Pandya. Matheesha excited everyone with his slingy action and raw pace.

Wade could have been a match winner for @gujarat_titans as opener but it's not easy for an overseas player to adapt in Indian conditions. @Wriddhipops is a good team man and he has proved it. #IPL2022 #GTvCSK

Add to the memoirs of young one’s this #IPL2022 – Pathirana joins Dewald Brevis in the wicket of the first ball club. Both 19, both promising. The future should be fun .. #CSKvsGT

RCB fans should be most happiest with this result. Now Gujarat can rest their main players and play RCB legend Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Vijay Shankar, Varun Aaron against them for the last match which RCB need to win big

GT bowlers shine to restrict CSK to 133 runs
Chennai Super Kings made 4 changes in their playing XI for this match to give youngsters a chance. CSK lost the early wicket of Devon Conway in the 3rd over. Mohammed Shami picked the important wicket of Conway. Moeen Ali took on Rashid Khan in the last over of the powerplay. As a result, CSK scored 47 runs in the powerplay.
But they failed to get any sort of momentum in middle and death overs. Sai Kishore took the wicket of dangerous Moeen Ali. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a struggling knock of 53 runs in 49 balls. MS Dhoni too didn’t get his timing right and could manage to score just 7 runs in 10 balls. Shami was the most successful bowler which helped GT restrict CSK to just 133 runs.
