Bangladesh women won the last ball thriller by three wickets against India to clinch their maiden Asia Cup title.
Top order failure and sloppy fielding costed the cup for India as couldn”t recreate their magic in the final. India women already lost the league stage match against Bangladesh which in turn handed them an advantage mentally.
Barring Harmanpreet, none of the batsmen was able to post a hefty score on the board and this reduced India to just 112/9 in 20 overs. The skipper made 56 off 42 deliveries, For Bangladesh Rumana Ahmed bowled economically as she ended with figures 4-0-22-2.
Pomona Yada”s four-wicket haul went in vain as Jahanara Alam scored a double off the last delivery taking the side home.
India women failed to clinch the Asia cup for the seventh time and this loss will definitely make them ponder over the team composition.
Rumana Ahmed was adjudged the man of the match while Harmanpreet Kaur bagged the player of the series award for her all-round abilities.
Twitter went wild as India lost the final and this is how it reacted :

Captain @ImHarmanpreet's heroic efforts with bat and ball go in vain, as #Bangladesh beat 6-time #AsiaCup champions #India . Well played girls, though the fielding let us down in the final. #AsiaCupfinal #INDvBAN
