Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 21 runs in the 50th match of the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL). These two points were very crucial for Delhi to keep them alive in the race of playoffs. David Warner, Rovman Powell and Khaleel Ahmed were the three shining stars of this win for Delhi.

While chasing the mammoth target of 208 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad didn’t get a good start. They lost Williamson and Abhishek Sharma cheaply. Aiden Markaram played an impactful knock of 42 runs but couldn’t make it big. In the end, Nicholas Pooran scored brilliant 62 runs in 34 balls. But this wasn’t enough for the massive target they were chasing.

Khaleel Ahmed was the best bowler for Delhi Capitals while defending the target. He picked three crucial wickets in four overs. Shardul Thakur also chipped in with vital wickets to put Hyderabad out of the game.

“We were put under pressure a lot in that first half” –  Kane Williamson 

SRH captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to field first. Delhi Capital didn’t get a good start and lost the early wickets of Mandeep Singh and Mitchell Marsh. However with the help of brilliant innings from David Warner and Rovman Powell, Delhi Capitals was able to score a massive total of 207 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the most economical bowler for SRH.

Losing ca ptain Kane Williamson in the post match presentation said ” It’s a pretty small ground and there was a little bit of dew. If we kept wickets in hand, then who knows. For us, it’s just going back to the drawing board and keeping things really simple. We were put under pressure a lot in that first half and allowed them to get an above par total “
