The social media platforms went ablaze soon after Royal Challengers Bangalore roped Glenn Maxwell during IPL 2021 auctions for a whopping amount of ₹14.25 crores. And now, in the first match after the auction, Maxwell has got out cheaply during the first T20I between Australia and New Zealand.
Meanwhile, after an awful season with Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings) in IPL 2020, the franchise co-owned by Preity Zinta released the Aussie all-rounder. While many expected Maxwell not to earn big during the auction, but the dashing all-rounder once again broke the bank in IPL 2021 auction which took place in Chennai on February 18.
After an intense bidding war from a couple of franchises, Royal Challengers Bangalore snared Glenn Maxwell to solve their middle-order batting woes. Playing his first international game for Australia after joining RCB ahead of IPL 2021, Maxwell failed to deliver the goods with the bat.
Fans troll Royal Challengers Bangalore after Glenn Maxwell’s failure
The flamboyant all-rounder lasted for five deliveries and scored only a solitary run against the Black Caps. Taking into account Glenn Maxwell’s horror show against the Kane Williamson-led side, fans of the gentlemen’s game were quick to mock Royal Challengers Bangalore’s marquee signing on social media.

Meanwhile, fans were soon on social media trolling Royal Challengers Bangalore for shelling such a huge sum on Glenn Maxwell. “Glenn Maxwell missed his century by 99 runs,” one user poked fun on the microblogging site Twitter.
