Team India batsman Sanju Samson once again failed to make the most of the opportunity in the fifth and the final T20I against New Zealand at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Samson managed to score only two runs as the fans came hard on him on social media site Twitter.

The cricketer from Kerala came back into the squad in the back of consistent outings in domestic cricket. Sanju Samson was in brilliant form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which compelled the selectors to give him a second opportunity since making his debut against Zimbabwe in 2015.

Although Samson broke into the squad but was struggling to make it to the playing XI with cricketers living up to the expectations. Opportunities came begging but Sanju Samson has failed to capitalise on the chances. The wicket-keeper batsman managed to score only six runs in the T20I against Sri Lanka and followed it wth ten runs from the two T20Is he played against New Zealand.

The 25-year-old opened the innings alongside KL Rahul in the fifth game but failed to make the opportunity count. He struck the ball nicely but it fell straight into the hands of Mitchell Santner who was positioned in the covers. The luck has been very unkind to Sanju Samson who will curse himself for struggling to put runs on the board. Meanwhile, Twitter came hard on him with many fans urging the management to bring back Rishabh Pant in the playing XI.
