Veteran India pacer Umesh Yadav wreaked havoc with the bowl during the Royal London One-Day Cup match on Sunday, August 7 at the Chester-le-Street. His performance powered Middlesex to a nine wickets victory against Durham. He picked a brilliant five-wicket haul in the match, to break the back of Durham’s batting attack.
Middlesex furthered a crushing defeat against Leicestershire in their opening match of the season. Umesh Yadav picked just one wicket in that match. However, he made an outstanding comeback in the second game against Durham. Bowling first, Umesh Yadav got Middlesex off to a dream start. He dismissed Graham Clark for a two-ball duck in the very first over.
The Indian pacer struck then at regular intervals to dismiss Scott Borthwick in his second over. He also took Liam Trevaskis and Oliver Gibson’s wickets in the match. Umesh finished off the Durham innings with a brilliant yorker to send Chris Rushworth back in the hut. Durham was all-out for 268 runs in 49.2 overs, as Umesh Yadav took 5/33 in the innings.

After Umesh Yadav’s early blitz with the ball, Michael Jones and Alex Lees stitched up a vital 109-run stand for the fourth wicket to steady the ship. Lees scored a half-century, while Jones scored a 118-ball 119-run knock. Middlesex bowler Luke Hollman also performed well, picking up a four-wicket haul in the innings.
Stephen Eskinazi’s century leads Middlesex to a nine-wicket win
Middlesex chased down 269 runs comfortably by nine wickets to register their win of the season in the Royal London One-Day Cup. After a great bowling display by Umesh Yadav, their batters also made their mark in the game. Stephen Eskinazi slammed an unbeaten 146 runs off 132 deliveries, including thirteen boundaries and four sixes.
Mark Stoneman and Sam Robson also smashed fifties in the match. Mark scored 62 runs off 60 deliveries, while Sam Robson made 55 runs. Olive Gibson took the lone wicket in the match for Durham, dismissing Mark Stoneman.
