“Umpire Is Sleeping” – Twitter Reacts After KL Rahul Given Out On A Controversial Delivery

KL Rahul-Shaheen Afridi

Pakistan made history by defeating India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in their campaign opener by 10 wickets. While Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi made headlines with his stunning spell, it was the dismissal of India opener KL Rahul which left everyone surprised.

Notably, a Twitter user shared pictures where it can be seen that the dismissal of KL Rahul happened on a no-ball in Dubai on Sunday. And, it left everyone shocked and Twitterati fumed as well.

Shaheen Afridi provided his team with a brilliant start by dismissing Rohit Sharma on a duck. He returned in his second over and removed KL Rahul as well. It was an inswinging length delivery that Rahul tried to play across the line but missed it and the ball hit the stump.

Here’s how they reacted to KL Rahul dismissal:

As far as the game is concerned, India posted 151 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored 57 whereas Rishabh Pant scored 39. Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed 3 for 31 whereas Hasan Ali picked up 2 as well.

While chasing, Pakistan successfully managed to reach the target without losing a wicket and 2.1 overs in hand.

After the win, Pakistan captain Babar Azam said: “We executed our plans well and the early wickets were very helpful. Shaheen’s wickets gave us a lot of confidence and the spinners dominated as well. The plan with Rizwan is always to keep it simple. We tried to get deep in the crease and from about the 8th over the dew came in and the ball came on nicely.

He continued:

This is just the start, we have confidence to build on now. It will remain match by match for us. The pressure on us wasn’t that much – we weren’t thinking of the record against India at all. I only wanted to back all our players who’ve been preparing well. When you play tournaments before a big World Cup, it helps and our players came in with a lot of confidence because of that.”

The Player of the match, Shaheen Afridi said: “This is the first time we’ve beaten India and I feel proud. I knew it would be good for us if I got early wickets and that worked out. My idea was to get as much swing as possible. You don’t get a lot here, but I wanted to get those breakthroughs and gave it 100%. In my opinion the new ball was a difficult to play, so credit goes to Babar and Rizwan. All the teams are difficult at the World Cup, we’ll try to take this momentum forward and make the final.”
