“Umpires Should Keep Their Eyes Open”- Inzamam-ul-Haq Makes Strange Ball-Tampering Accusations Against Arshdeep Singh

Inzamam-ul-Haq Makes Strange Ball-Tampering Accusations Against Arshdeep Singh

India beat Australia by a score of 24 runs on Monday, June 24, in the T20 World Cup Super 8 match. Nevertheless, Arshdeep Singh was charged by Inzamam-ul-Haq with manipulating the ball. The former skipper of Pakistan was caught off guard by a reverse swing for the left-arm bowler in the 16th over.

Arshdeep Singh, a pacer, bowled the 15th over of the innings, and Inzamam said that the “ball was made” intentionally to reverse swing. Having already claimed 15 wickets in the league, Arshdeep is second among the leading wicket-takers after an incredible start to the campaign for India.

The former cricket player, who is now an expert, stated that Arshdeep was given a reverse swing at that point in the innings because of something the Indian team did to the ball. During a debate on a Pakistani television channel, Inzamam urged the umpires to take note of the Men in Blue’s strategies:

Arshdeep Singh was able to reverse swing even in the 15th over. It is too early. It means that the ball was ready for a reverse swing till the 13th over. The umpires should keep their eyes open here too.” Inzamam said on News 24 Pakistan during the review of the India-Australia match.

“Jasprit Bumrah can extract reverse swing because of his action”- Inzamam-ul-Haq

If the Pakistani pacers had tampered with the ball, Inzamam-ul-Haq went on, there would have been a huge commotion. He said that when India faced Australia, they worked hard with the ball.

According to Inzamam, Arshdeep Singh found it difficult to reverse the ball, whereas Jasprit Bumrah could do so with little assistance thanks to his action.

“If the Pakistani bowlers had done something like this, there would have been a lot of noise. We know the reverse swing very well. If Arshdeep can reverse the ball in the 15th over, it means that something serious has been done with the ball. Jasprit Bumrah can extract a reverse swing because of his action. For some bowlers, the ball needs to be worked on for them to get a reverse swing,” Inzamam said during the same discussion.
