Umran Malik Set To Play Ranji Trophy 2024-25

The excitement surrounding domestic cricket, alongside international matches, has begun to build in India. Recently, the Duleep Trophy concluded, with India A emerging victorious, and now the Ranji Trophy season is set to commence on October 11. In preparation for this tournament, Jammu and Kashmir has announced its squad of 15 players, which notably includes fast bowler Umran Malik.

After battling injuries for an extended period, Umran is now fit and eager to showcase his talent in the Ranji Trophy. The right-arm fast bowler had been sidelined for a while due to an injury sustained after the recent IPL season. Although he was selected for the Duleep Trophy, he faced another setback when he contracted dengue a few days prior to the tournament, preventing him from participating in any matches.

With the Ranji Trophy approaching, Umran is poised to make a strong comeback, aiming to impress selectors and secure a place in the national team with his performance. Umran also participated in the last Ranji season, having played his most recent first-class match during that tournament in February. Throughout his first-class career, he has played 12 matches and taken 16 wickets.

The captaincy of the Jammu and Kashmir team has been entrusted to Paras Dogra, who will lead a squad that also features Rasikh Salam. Notably, Rasikh returns to first-class cricket after a five-year hiatus, having recently made a significant impact in IPL 2024 with the Delhi Capitals.
