Indian skipper Rishabh Pant has again failed to make an impact in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa. He was dismissed for just 17 runs in the fourth T20I on Friday at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
Rishabh Pant walked out to bat at number four for India after the dismissal of Shreyas Iyer. He managed a couple of boundaries during his stay at the crease but did not look settled. In the twelfth over, Rishabh survived after Keshav Maharaj dropped his catch. Pant attempted a reverse sweep which flew to Maharaj’s right at the backward point. However, the SA spinner could not hold on to it.
Rishabh Pant’s stay at the crease could not last much longer as he was dismissed in the following over. The Indian batter played a rash shot, trying to smash a wide ball over off-side. However, the ball took the edge, and the southpaw was caught at short third man. The Indian skipper had to walk back to the hut for 17 runs off 23 balls.
⚪ MAGIC MAHARAJ
Maharaj tempts Pant with a wide ball and the Indian captain goes after it. It's a top edge and Pretorius takes the catch at short 3rd man

Interestingly, the Proteas have got the Indian skipper out by bowling wide off the off-stump in all four matches this series. Rishabh Pant has had a dismal record in the ongoing series, scoring just 57 runs in four matches at an average of 14.25.
Let’s take a look at how Twitterati reacted to Rishabh Pant’s disappointing performance in the fourth T20I:

If you cannot learn from your errors after a bunch of chances then surely one has to question Pant’s cricketing brain or the lack of one
Would rather play Sanju Samson over him honestly

#Pant is so destructive in Test but same kind of display is missing in T20. Why? #INDvSA #SAvsIND #Cricket

And again, Pant is made to hit away from him and is out. Pant is not learning from the past dismissals, instinctive following the ball so wide, that's not his strongest area. And teams have been planning it well since the IPL.

Rishabh Pant can't make it to the World Cup 2022 team with this form. He needs to step up and start scoring runs again. He is better than this.

Pant has been exposed badly in limited over cricket ,
just keep bowling him outside off , he will keep slogging here and there and finally get out.#INDvsSA— Anurag Anand (@Cric8CrazyAnu) June 17, 2022

#INDvSA Pant out 💯 agree with @Sunil_Gavaskar Yes, @RishabhPant17 has not learn from last 3 dismissal hope someone like you should tell him and also few lef handers not to play this kinda shot Last match @ishankishan51 did the same I guess.

You are better than this, Pant. Utterly poor.

Pant fails again and that was irresponsible I'm afraid. India have a long tail today and Rishabh Pant should have been a lot wiser with his shot selection there.
Lots on the shoulders of Hardik now with India on 81/4 off 12.5.LIVE COMMS:

Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik’s brilliant knocks power India to 169
The Indian team managed to put on 169 runs on the board in the first innings, thanks to Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya’s batting exploits. Dinesh Karthik slammed his maiden T20I fifty, scoring 55 runs off just 27 balls, including nine boundaries and a couple of sixes.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Hardik Pandya smashed 46 runs off 31 balls, including three boundaries and as many sixes. India needs to defend the total to level the five-match T20I series 2-2.
