Watch: Vidarbha’s Darshan Nalkande Takes Four Wickets Of Consecutive Balls Against Karnataka in SMAT Semi-Final

Darshan Nalkande

A brilliant effort with the ball from Darshan Nalahande was not enough to help Vidarbha win the Syed Mushtaq Ali semi-final against Karnataka. They will now face Tamil Nadu in the final on Monday. Vidarbha fell short by just four runs chasing a target of 177 to win.

Meanwhile, Darshan Nalkande bowled a brilliant 20th over as he picked four wickets in four balls and gave just a single run in the over. Aniruddha Joshi was Nalkande’s first wicket followed by Sharath BR, J Suchith, and Abhinav Manohar. All the batters came and went in no time.

Karnataka dominated with the bat in the first innings scoring a more than competitive 176/7 in the semi-final. All three top-order batsmen scored runs. Skipper Manish Pandey scored 54 with opener Rohan Kadam scoring 87. Abhinav Manohar scored 27 off 13 in the final overs and fell to Nalkande.

In response, Vidarbha came close but not close enough in the end. Consistent scores from their top- and middle-order kept them in the hunt but the experienced bowling attack of Karnataka got the job done in the end.

Brief scores: Karnataka 176/7 in 20 overs (Rohan Kadam 87, Manish Pandey 54; Darshan Nalkande 4-28) beat Vidarbha 172/6 in 20 overs (Atharva Taide 32, Ganesh Satish 31; KC Cariappa 2-27) by 4 runs.
