In the 50 Over Ford Trophy match between Auckland Aces and Canterbury played at Auckland today. Auckland captain Craig Cachopa won the toss and elected to bat. Jeet Raval came down the track and hit the bowlers head going for six off the bowling Andy Ellis Noggin. The incident took place in Auckland in the 19th over as Jeet Raval smashed six runs in the previous delivery.
The umpire changed its decision to four runs and Canterbury bowler was taken off the field for test and there was nothing serious as Ellis was fit to resume. Ellis took 2/52 in his 7 overs. Auckland scored 304 for 6 in 50 overs. The top scorer in the match was Jeet Raval with 149 runs. He was named as the man of the match.
Chasing 305, Canterbury team were bowled out for 197 in 37.2 overs. MA Pollard scored 47 runs and Todd Astle made 42 which was not enough for Canterbury to go past Auckland 304. It was the 3rd Premlinary finals match.
The finals will be played between Auckland and Central Districts on 24th February at New Plymouth. 50 Ford Trophy tournament held in New Zealand began from 1971-72. Canterbury has won 50 in the local tournament 14 times, followed by Auckland Aces 10 times, Northern Districts, Wellington Firebirds 7 times each, Central Stags 6 times and Otago Volts only 2 times.
Jeet Raval has played for New Zealand in 9 test matches with the best score of 88. He has scored so far 623 runs. In local tournaments, the left-handed batsmen have lots of experience playing 87 First Class matches, 46 List A matches and 33 T20s matches.

Auckland Aces won the match by 107 runs and did not allow Canterbury to comeback into the match.
