VIDEO: Dad Shivnarine Chanderpaul ran his son Tangerine Chanderpaul out in Regional Super 50

West Indies great Shivnarine Chanderpaul run outs son Tangerine Chanderpaul during Regional Super 50 Semi-finals tournament held in West Indies on 22nd February. The match took place between Winward Islands and Guyana played at Coolidge. It was a one-sided semi-final as Winward Islands won the match by 52 runs via D/L method.

Winward Islands were invited into bat by Guyana. T Theophile scored a brilliant 107 runs, while KR Hodge made 57 runs and cameo knocks from Mayers 18 not out, Shillingford captain with 16 off 16 balls helped Winward Islands to post 286 for 7 in 50 overs.

Chasing 287, the incident of the run out took place in the 5th over as dad Shivnarine Chanderpaul hit a straight shot and hit RD John feet, crushed into stumps as son Tangerine Chanderpaul was found short of the crease. Guyana had to chase a revised target of 284 in 47 overs. Rutherford scored 49, Permaul 37 was not enough.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul made his test debut for West Indies in 1994. He played 164 test matches and scored 11867 runs with an average of 51.37. Apart from playing 164 test matches, Chanderpaul played 268 ODI’s scoring 8778 runs with an average of 41.60.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul retired from test cricket on 1st May 2015. His performances for West Indies cricket were great with his rear stance which made life tough for opposition bowlers. Shivnarine son Tangerine is following dad’s footsteps and has played 16 First class matches, 4 List A matches so far.

Shivnarine was a part of the team having greats like Brian Lara and other top quality players which made life not good for bowlers and created panic among oppositions.

The Super Regional 50 over tournament 2017/18 season was won by the Windward Islands in a close fought match. Barbados made 232 for 9 in 50 overs. The Windward Islands won the match by 3 wickets with 3 balls to spare.
