India Women started their World T20 campaign on a winning note as they decimated New Zealand by 34 runs. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur”s brilliance with the bat single-handedly sealed the game as the side is now ranked second in the group with a good NRR of 1.70
Kaur scored a belligerent 103 off just 51 deliveries. Though she started her innings in a mundane way, she came out all guns blazing after reaching her thirties. Her partnership with Jemmiah Rodrigues, who is playing her maiden ICC tournament made sure to post a huge target of 195 on the board.
Her knock included 7 boundaries and 8 huge sixes. This century by Kaur reminded us of her scintillating knock against Australian attack in Women”s World Cup 2017 semifinals. Kaur now becomes the first Indian woman to score an international century in a T20 game. Her mettle in the middle is being appreciated by several legends of the game including Sehwag as she just dominated NZ bowling line-up.
Here”s a video of her humongous sixes that turned out to be a treat to watch for.
