Though Pakistan failed to match the expectations of their fans, their old horse Shoaib Malik never disappointed the crowd. His stability in the middle, in turn, made them post a respectable score on the board. It is to be noted that Shoaib Malik had already hinted at his retirement post world cup 2019.
Shoaib Malik has a good rapport with Indian players and fans. Pictures of him meeting MS Dhoni in the net went viral few weeks back. The 36-year-old has a huge fan base in India following his marriage with Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.
In the recently concluded match against India at Dubai, Shoaib Malik who was fielding at the boundary line was seen reciprocating with a wave to his fans who addressed him “jiju” (brother-in-law). The fans went so crazy after his gesture and this video is trending for a long time in the social media.
Shoaib Malik is now the only player to represent One-day Internationals after making his debut in the 20th century (1999). Despite his 211 runs in Asia cup, lack of support from other players knocked them out of the tournament.
