Both the camps are sweating hard to beat their brutal best for the test series from August 1. While Indian players indulged in gym sessions, the English chose the county way to test their form ahead of the series.
In the county division match between Lancashire and Yorkshire, few of the best batsmen in the longest format of the game fell into the trap set by 27-year-old Jordan Clark.
The star of ODI series Joe Root, the latest recruit Kane Williamson and the wicketkeeper Johny Bairstow were the players who reached the pavilion in consecutive deliveries thus handing Jordan Clark a hat-trick. The latter two fell for golden ducks while the former hit 22 off just 19 deliveries.
Jordan Clark”s breathtaking efforts with the ball contributed a fifer to his name (5/58) and decimated Yorkshire for a paltry 192.
The future for England really looks bright in the bowling department with the presence of several young stars in county cricket. In all possibilities, Jordan Clark can expect an international call-up if he continues to impress the selectors with his consistency.
The day 2 resumes today with the innings of Lancashire. The squad really has several young talents in the form of Haseeb Hamed and Keaton Jennings. Both of them made an impact in the 2016 test series at Indian conditions and the middle order really looks strong with the presence of Jos Buttler. It will be interesting to see who will come out on the top by the end of the match.
