The County Championship in England got its first taste of the pink ball this week as 9 matches between 26-29 June will be played under lights with the Pink ball.
Coincidentally, it is fast bowler Mohammad Aamir”s debut in English County Cricket who was picked by Essex last week. Essex is one of the sides which has been allotted day-night fixture this week at their home turf in Chelmsford against Middlesex.
Mohammad Aamir, the Pakistani fast bowling prodigy, showed his dexterity with the ball in the opening spell. He moved the ball like a banana both ways, leaving batsman guessing which one will come in and which one will go away. He was not very far from his first wicket for Essex and eventually got it when he trapped Middlesex opener Nick Gubbins for naught.
He came back to remove J Simpson and finished with figures of 2-53 from 16 overs, not bad on a County Debut.
The 25-year-old fast bowler was banned from International cricket for his involvement in spot-fixing along with two other teammates Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt.
Mohammad Amir was sentenced to 6 months in prison in 2011 for his wrongdoings. He was handed a 5-year ban by the International Cricket Council.
The left-arm seamer has played 28 tests picking 94 wickets and 36 ODIS picking 55 scalps for Pakistan. Experts wonder how many wickets did he miss out on in those 5 years looking at the talent he has got.
