Wicket-keeping is the toughest job in international cricket. In a local match, Sufiyan Shaikh produces a brilliant catch to dismiss A Bais. The match was held between DYPSA and PAYYADE SC. Bais played a sweep shot as Shaikh moved to his left and took a one-handed catch for PAYYADE SC. The tournament was called as Jain Irrigation Systems Limited organized by 70th Police Invitation shield cricket tournament. The final was a three-day match.
The incident took place in the 37th over when H Singh bowled for Bais. Bais was playing on 13 in 18 balls. He tried to play a paddle shot but was caught brilliantly by Shaikh to surprise the batsman. At that moment DYSPA was 234 for 7.
DY Patil Sports Association won the title by defeating PAYYADE SC. The match was held on Sunday at Mumbai Police Ground Gymkhana ground. In the finals, DY Patil scored 446 for 9 in 90 overs while in reply, PAYYADE scored 392 in 88.3 overs. It gave a lead of 54 runs for DYPSA.
In the second innings, DY Patil Sports Association was dismissed for 246 in 38.3 overs. PAYYADE were set a target of 300 in 40 overs. DYSPA with experienced bowlers Tambe and Abdulla bowled out PAAYADE SC for 247 in 36.4 overs. DYSPA won the title by 53 runs.
Sufiyan Shaikh played his first-class match for Mumbai in the 2015/16 Ranji Trophy quarterfinals against Jharkhand. He also took part in ICC Under 19 World Cup and other major domestic tournaments. Shaikh has played only 2 first-class matches, 2 List A matches and 4 T20 matches for Mumbai.
He also took part in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh played from 14th October to 17th October.
