VIDEO: Prithvi Shaw smashes Mohammed Siraj For 16 Runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy

The young 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw showed his hitting abilities against Mohammed Siraj in the first semi-finals of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore today. It was a great display of hitting by Shaw who smashed Siraj for 16 runs in 3 balls.

Chasing the target of 248 runs to win, Shaw played with positive intent smashing the Hyderabad bowlers to all parts. The youngster was dropped twice off Siraj bowling. In the 9th over, Shaw smashed two sixes and 1 four. Shaw reached the half-century off just 34 balls. He was finally dismissed 61 off 44 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes.

Mumbai progressed through the finals of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 with a convincing 60 runs via VJD method. Mumbai captain Sheryas Iyer remained not out on 55 off 53 balls while Rahane made 17 off 29 balls. Rohit Sharma scored 17 off 24 balls.

Hyderabad captain Ambati Rayudu won the toss and decided to bat first. Apart from Rohit Rayudu brilliant 121 off 132 balls and quick-fire knock by Mehdi Hassan scoring 23 off 17 balls helped Hyderabad post a respectable total of 246 for 8 in 50 overs.

Shaw has shown tremendous potential for Indian colours in the recently concluded test series against West Indies. He scored 134 runs in his debut innings at Rajkot with positive stroke play. Shaw then made a quick fire 70 runs during the first innings at Hyderabad and remained not out on 33 chasing a paltry total of 72 runs to win.

For his brilliant batting in the series, he was named as man of the series. Shaw had a great 2018 so far, winning the Under 19 World held in New Zealand, performing well in his debut IPL season for Delhi Daredevils.
