Sometimes cricketers lose their cool off the field too, getting into spats. It isn”t surprising that Sourav Ganguly once had a brawl with a train passenger. It was his first train ride since 2001, to Balurghat to unveil his 8 foot Bronze statue. Ganguly and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) secretary Abhishek Dalmiya on the Padatik Express, had an argument with another passenger who had occupied his seat.
The passenger refused to give away, which caused the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel to interfere in the matter. Ganguly was then offered a berth in AC 2-tier. He successfully attended the unveiling. Incidentally, he had never Sushanta Pal, the sculptor of the statue.
Ganguly is now part of the CAC along with Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman, who together appointed Ravi Shastri as the Indian coach. Ganguly had opinions contrary to the other two but Sachin later convinced him that they must look at the welfare of the team as well.
