India C side won the Deodhar Trophy comprehensively as they decimated India B in the finals. Shreyas Iyer”s belligerent knock went in vain as they failed to chase the target by a margin of 29 runs.
India C”s opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Ajinkya Rahane played a gem of a knock as both of them scored centuries to seal the finals in style. It helped them to put a target of 352 on the board. Rahane, being the skipper of the side led his side successfully and the entire social media applauded him for his splendid efforts.
But an embarrassing situation happened in the due course of the match and the culprit was none other than the scoreboard. Batting on 96, Rahane nicked one to the long-on. The scoreboard displayed 100 and Ajinkya Rahane went on to celebrate the moment with a gentle rise of the bat. His teammate, Raina signalled from the dressing room that he is well three runs short of the milestone.
This moment turned out to be a laughter for few in the middle but one must really look at the quality of innings played by the skipper. After being away from the ODI formats, Ajinkya Rahane proved his mettle in the limited overs and this might be a statement to the selectors that he is still open to other formats than the whites.
What happened there? 😁 😆 @ajinkyarahane88 felt he got to a 100, @ImRaina was quick to rectify there were 3 more runs to go 😄 pic.twitter.com/qi5RaMF8t8
