Yuzvendra Chahal picks 6 wickets in Vijay Hazare Trophy match today

After being dropped from the T20I series against Australia, India’s leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal showed his class with a match-winning spell for Haryana against Uttarakhand in the first match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament played at ADSA Railways Cricket Ground, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand on 23rd November 2023.

Haryana captain Ashok Menaria won the toss and decided to field first. Yuzvendra Chahal got the wicket of Uttarakhand captain J Singh in front of the wickets. He then dismissed Dikanshu Negi providing simple catch to Rohit Pramod Sharma. Chahal got rid of Swapnil Singh to put them under pressure.

Chahal then another major wicket dismissing well Aditya Tare to leave Uttarakhand in trouble. He showed his class with his 5th scalp getting rid of Akhil Rawat and then dismissed Mayank Mishra in the same over. It was a superb bowling effort by Chahal as he ended with figures of 6 for 26 in 10 overs. Haryana bowled out Uttarakhand for 207 in 47.4 overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal was dropped from the T20I squad for the series against Australia starting from 23rd November 2023. He played for India during the fifth T20I match at Lauderhill on 13th August 2023. Since then, Chahal was dropped from the Asia Cup squad, and in World Cup 2023, India finished runners-up.

With this brilliant performance, Yuzvendra Chahal completed 200 List-A wickets and proved his worth with some lovely bowling in today’s first-round fixture of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023.

Yuzvendra Chahal List A performances

Yuzvendra Chahal made his List A debut for Haryana against Punjab on 10th February 2010. Since his debut, the leg spinner grabbed a total of 200 wickets and showed his abilities.

Chahal has featured in 72 ODI matches (69 innings) and grabbed a total of 121 wickets with figures of 6 for 42. Since making his debut in the T20I format for India, Chahal is the leading wicket-taker with 96 wickets and has not featured during the shortest format since the last match of the T20I series in August this year.
