Vijay Hazare Trophy: Mayank Agarwal’s 140 Helps Karnataka To victory over Hyderabad

Mayank Agarwal continued his brilliant form in domestic season for Karnataka. In today’s first quarterfinals played at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi, Karnataka crush Hyderabad by 103 runs. Winning the toss, Karun Nair batted first. Mayank Agarwal and R Samarth added 242 runs for the second wicket. Karnataka posted a massive total of 347 for 8. In reply, Hyderabad was never in the game and was bowled out for 244.

Karnataka captain Karun Nair won the toss and elected to bat. Nair and Mayank Agarwal gave the team a positive start scoring 29 runs in 3.4 overs before Karun Nair was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj. Mayank Agarwal played with positive intent and put pressure on Hyderabad bowlers. In first 10 overs, Karnataka scored 54 for 1.

Agarwal showed his class with aggressive hitting reaching his half-century off 55 balls. Both Mayank and Samarth made the batting look easy. Samarth completed 50 off 58 balls. It was a complete dominating batting performance by Samarth and Mayank. Mayank Agarwal reached his century off 84 balls and continued to smash Hyderabad bowlers. Samarth made 100 off 105 balls. Both Agarwal and Samarth added 242 runs for the second wicket.

Karnataka lost wickets at regular intervals and ended on 347 for 8 in 50 overs. Mohammad Siraj was the top wicket taker with 5 wickets.

Chasing 348, Hyderabad lost an early wicket of Akash Reddy in the 3rd over. Rohit Rayadu and Ravi Teja played with positive intent and scored 58 runs for 1 wicket. Rohit Rayadu and Teja added 71 runs for the second wicket. Teja completed his half-century off 56 balls. Hyderabad captain Ambati Rayadu and B Sandeep played with positive intent adding 102 runs for the 4th wicket.

Rayadu reached his half-century off 48 balls but could play freely. He was dismissed for 64. Rest of Hyderabad batting failed

Hyderabad lost wickets at regular intervals and was bowled out for 244 in 42.5 overs. Mayank Agarwal has hit 558 runs in 6 matches so far during 50 over domestic tournament for Karnataka.

Karnataka 347 for 8 in 50 overs ( Mayank Agarwal 140, R Samarth 125, Mohammad Siraj 5/59) beat

Hyderabad 244 in 42.5 overs ( A Rayadu 64, Ravi Teja 53, Sheryas Gopal 5/31) by 103 runs.
