Former India batsman Vikram Rathor is in the line to become Team India”s next batting coach. If recommendations made by the MSK Prasad led selection committee is to be believed, Rathour might well be ahead in the race with Sanjay Bangar. However, both Bharath Arun and R Sridhar are preferred choices of the committee.
Rathore is first in the priority list following Sanjay Bangar and England’s Mark Ramprakash for the position of batting coach. Meanwhile, Paras Mhambrey and Venkatesh Prasad are behind Bharat Arun for the position of a bowling coach. Head coach Ravi Shastri has already been retained and he will continue till the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup.
The name of the recommended candidates will be finalised after a meeting with the BCCI executives. The contract will go on for the next couple of years concluding with the 2021 World Twenty20.

“Vikram Rathour has got enough experience and we are convinced with his skill sets (as a coach). We will ask him to declare if he has any conflict,” said BCCI CEO Rahul Johri. On Rathour replacing Bangar, Johri said, “The team management had their own views but looking ahead, we felt there should be some freshness in the support staff.”
As per reports in Cricbuzz, there are 5 different candidates shortlisted for the post of strength and mental conditioning coach. The candidates who have been shortlisted are Luke Woodhouse, Grant Luden, Rajnikanth Sivagnanam, Nick Webb and Anand Date. All five will be a part of “a second round of interviews to assess their practical skills,” said a BCCI media release as per quotes in Cricbuzz.
