Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli wants to be associated with an IPL team as their batting consultant. During his career, Kambli was considered as one of the most technically gifted batsmen to ever play for India. He started his career with a bang and scored loads for runs in Test cricket.
Along with Sachin Tendulkar, he was expected to be a mainstay of Indian batting for a long time. Unfortunately, Kambli was unable to capitalise on his great start and faded away. He was expected to feature in the inaugural IPL edition in 2008 but missed out due to an injury.
Available For Any IPL Team As Batting Consultant – Vinod Kambli
Vinod Kambli sustained a terrible shin injury which virtually ended his career. Now the former cricketer is eyeing to be part of the IPL as a batting consultant for one of the teams. In the recent past, several domestic stalwarts of Indian cricket has worked as batting coaches in the IPL.
Recently, Vinod Kambli admitted that it’s his dream to serve as a batting consultant in the IPL. He still has a rod in his left leg but is hopeful to work in the IPL with one of the sides.
“I’m available for any team as a batting consultant. Due to the operation on my shin, I couldn’t run and thus couldn’t play in the first edition of IPL in 2008. I eventually pulled out of the Mumbai Ranji team and retired. I still have a rod in my left leg. However, it’s been my dream to be a batting consultant with one of the teams in the IPL,” Vinod Kambli told Times of India.

Meanwhile, overall Kambli represented India in 17 Tests and 104 ODIs till 2000. The former cricketer was closely watching the recently concluded IPL 2020 and mentioned an interesting point. He stated that the batsmen were unable to read ‘googlies’ of the leg spinners and he can help them to counter this problem if he works with an IPL team.
“If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter, you’d have seen that I followed IPL 2020 very closely. All the leg-spinners were bowling googlies. It’s a challenge to face so many googlies and I can help the batsmen in that regard,” he added further.
