Royal Challengers Bangalore will breathe a sigh of relief after skipper Virat Kohli stormed back to form after a couple of poor returns in IPL 2020. Meanwhile, as they gear up for their next game, Kohli is on the verge of another milestone on a personal front.

The masterclass has been on a run-scoring spree ever since he bursts on to the scene. Since he made his debut in T20 cricket back in 2007, Virat Kohli has represented only three teams – Royal Challengers Bangalore, Team India and his state team Delhi.

Virat Kohli 10 runs away from 10000 T20 runs

The talismanic run-scorer has scored 8990 runs in 285 T20s he has played so far. Virat Kohli is just 10 runs away from becoming the first Indian cricketer to score 9000 runs in the shortest format of the game. Out of 8990 runs, he has scored 5926 runs for RCB. The Indian skipper has 2794 runs for the Men in Blues.

As Royal Challengers Bangalore gear up for their next game against Delhi Capitals, Virat Kohli is well and truly in line to achieve the landmark if he comes out to bat. Also, Bangalore will hope to secure a win as they aim the top spot in the IPL 2020 points table with eight points.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma follows Virat Kohli in the list among the Indians. The Mumbai Indians skipper has 8818 runs in 333 T20s under his belt. He is likely to complete 9000 T20 runs in IPL 2020. With 8392 runs, Suresh Raina is third Indian batsman with over 8000 runs in this format.

Speaking across the globe, star West Indies batsman Chris Gayle tops the chart with 13296 runs in 404 matches. The Universe Boss has almost represented over 15 teams playing across various franchise T20 leagues. Although he hasn’t represented West Indies in recent times, but Gayle is likely to return during the T20 World Cup next year in India.

Gayle’s teammate Kieron Pollard is the second batsman with over 10000 runs in T20 cricket. The veteran all-rounder has 10370 runs. Shoaib Malik (9926), Brendon McCullum (9922), David Warner (9451) and Aaron Finch (9148) sit above Virat Kohli in the list.
