Virat Kohli has now lost 3 Test matches on the bounce for the first time in his captaincy career. Never before Kohli had led team India to 3 consecutive Test match loses since becoming the captain in 2014. Now after an embarrassing loss against Australia at Adelaide Kohli has succumbed 3 consecutive matches.
Earlier this year under Kohli’s captaincy team India lost the test series against New Zealand by 2-0. Today Australia brought their game with the pink ball test steadily poised to which India had no answers. Kohli’s men lost by 8 wickets which is their 3rd defeat in as many Test matches this year.
Virat Kohli Loses 3 Consecutive Tests As Captain
The day began India having 9 wickets in hand and they were expected to put up a fight and give Australia a challenging total to chase. Unfortunately, it ended up being a nightmare session for team India as they kept losing wickets like a pack of cards. One followed another as Josh Hazelwood and Pat Cummins bowled dream spells in the afternoon session on day 3.
The Indian side could only make an insignificant 36 runs which shocked everyone. Kohli missed out with the bat in the second innings and fell cheaply for just 4 runs. Once Kohli departed it remained just a formality for Australia to wrap up the Indian innings and chase down the total as soon as possible.

The hosts did just that chased down the target of 90 runs inside 21 overs to win the game emphatically. Australia has now taken a 1-0 lead in the test series with the second test scheduled to begin at MCG on December 26.
As far as Kohli is concerned he will not be improving his test captaincy stats this year as he will miss the last 3 tests. Kohli has the most Test wins as captain for India in test cricket with 33 but 2020 has been an unforgettable year for him in whites.
