Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar is one of the most vocal cricketers on social media. He doesn’t like to mince from calling a spade a spade; thus, doesn’t have a lot of friends. However, Shoaib Akhtar believes he would have been best of friends with India skipper Virat Kohli.
The cricketer from Delhi is one of the most aggressive cricketers on the planet at present. he likes to keep his emotions on his sleeves and doesn’t shy away from engaging with his opponent in the cricket field. While he has copped a lot of severe criticisms for his aggression, many have backed Kohli urging him to be natural on the field.
Virat Kohli and I would have been best friends – Shoaib Akhtar
Shoaib Akhtar, who was also aggressive during his playing days just like his raw pace admitted that he would have great friends with Virat Kohli. The Rawalpindi Express was talking in an ESPNCricinfo video podcast to Sanjay Manjrekar.
“Virat Kohli and I would have been the best of friends. We both are Punjabi, we both have quite a similar nature. He seems like he has a lot of heart, and even though, he’s a lot junior to me, I really respect him,” Akhtar said.
Despite being best of friends off the field, Shoaib Akhtar admitted that both of them would have been the worst enemies on the cricket field. Both of them likes to get on top of their opponents which would have made a fiercest rivalry. However, Shoaib Akhtar and Virat Kohli have never played against each other during their career.
“We would have been the best of friends. But on the field, we would have been the best of enemies,” he signed off.
